Texas Saddle Up Straw Poll

Until the Saddle Up Texas Straw Poll, the voters of US Congressional District 22 were just getting to know Barbara J. Carlson. Well, that’s certainly changed. With the mix of Tea Party, grassroots conservatives and many others in attendance, Carlson’s message clearly resonated with those present, winning their vote in the balloted Straw Poll.

In the Ballot Straw Poll, Carlson had 51.5% of the 707 votes cast. “Once people get to know Pete Olson’s record and examine it, they will see that if they truly want to have change in Washington, then they will need to change who they send to Washington,” Carlson said after her win.

Results from the Texas Saddle Up Straw Poll

Barbara Carlson is a “rock-solid” strong fiscal and Constitutional conservative who adamantly opposes further deficit spending, and a leader who supports a balanced federal budget so that government operates within its means--just like American families must do.

Carlson has been a successful small businesswoman and has now added to her credentials the renowned author of “Face It, We’re Broken”. As a nationally-recognized insurance leader, Barbara Carlson fully understands the dangers posed by ObamaCare and will work tirelessly to repeal big government healthcare. As a 10-year veteran with the Oracle Corporation, Carlson was awarded with one of the company's top honors, the "North American Leadership Award," in recognition of her excellent leadership skills and highest ethics.

Carlson is a God-centered woman, a widow, mother of two young men and a leader who comes from a family dedicated to community and hard work. Carlson will fight tirelessly to restore the traditional values that made our country great. Pete Olson has voted 97% of the time with party leadership. When he was asked recently about the important payroll tax cut debate, he stated that he would have to first research his party leadership’s position. Olson is out of touch with his constituency and has done almost nothing to help bring resolution to our economic crisis. This race will present a clear choice for the 22nd Congressional District. Voters will get to decide between a candidate who is clearly an establishment career politician or a true fiscal and Constitutional conservative who will fight to represent them.
